AMR awareness program for prescribers – National Institute of Infectious Diseases

To celebrate the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2022, WAAW 2022, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases commonly known as IDH, successfully concluded the the first awareness program for prescribers on the 21.11.2022 in collaboration with MOH and Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists, with the participation of nearly 70 delegates including consultants, medical officers, dental officers, pharmacists, ICNOs and ministry officials. Gravity of the emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), importance of having a strong hospital antimicrobial stewardship program(ASP) as a solution to AMR and how to develop ASP, and the impact of AMR through a physician’s eye were addressed during the program by microbiologists and the senior physician at IDH. At the end of the program there was a lively discussion, where the participants enthusiastically took part
