Lecture for the infection control liaison nurses in the monthly infection control meeting
To mark the beginning of WAAW 2022, we conducted an awareness lecture on antimicrobial resistance for the infection control liaison nurses of the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Galle, in the monthly infection control meeting held on 18th November 2022.
Dr Bhagya Piyasiri, Consultant Microbiologist delivered the lecture on “Antimicrobial resistance in common infections” and the event was very successful securing an audience of about 60 consisting of doctors, matrons, and nurses.
GMA Monthly specialty update lecture on antimicrobial resistance
Monthly specialty update guest lecture of Galle Medical Association for November was held on 29th by Prof Shalini Sri Ranganathan on “Key determinants of an effective antibacterial treatment” as per a suggestion by Dr Bhagya Piyasiri to commemorate the world antibiotic awareness week from 18th to 24th November. Prof Ranganathan delivered her lecture via zoom to the physical audience and the event was live webcast successfully securing a good number of participants both physical and virtual comprising of consultants and post-graduate trainees alike. Dr Krishantha Jayasekera, President, GMA and Dr Wimalasiri Uluwattage, PG Coordinator, GMA, organized the event.
