SLCM has identified the importance of systematic implementation of AMS in hospitals.
- Development of 4 pivotal tools re. AMS;
- National Antimicrobial Stewardship Guideline for Healthcare institutions of Sri Lanka - General Circular No. 02-116 2024
- Implementation of Antimicrobial Prescription Chart in healthcare lnstitutions - individual hospitals can obtain these charts from the Central Stores of Medical Supplies Division of MoH, Wellawatte.
- Implementation of 'Aware classification' of antimicrobials in healthcare institutions in Sri Lanka - General Circular No. 01-13 2024 & the list of AWaRe antimicrobials
- National guideline on empirical and prophylactic use of antimicrobials, 2nd Edition – 2024 – this was launched in April 2024
- Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops were held/ continue to be held across the island.
- Way forward:
- Monitoring at ground level will be done via a Google form where all the participants of above workshops will fill a Google form as per the proposed timeline for four months, i.e. Action Plan to Implement AMS Programme
- A central level monitoring and evaluation process needs to be developed.
