The inaugural Infectious Diseases Conference was organized by the Infectious Diseases Forum of the Ceylon College of Physicians in Collaboration with DNDi, Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists and Sri Lanka College of Internal Medicine.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease is considered a self-limiting illness. It primarily affects infants and young children; however, it can also affect adolescents and adults.
Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by an Orthopoxvirus belonging to the family Poxviridea. Variola virus, vaccinia virus, and cowpox virus are all members of the Orthopoxvirus genus.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists (SLCM) was held on the 20th of October 2023, from 11.45am to 4.00pm at the “Bougainvillea”, Hotel Galadari, Colombo.
These workshops are aimed at creating awareness among doctors and nursing officers involved in the insertion and maintenance of central lines.
SLCM intends to give recommendations in order to minimize fatalities due to medication errors and severe adverse reactions including anaphylaxis in view of the recent events of several cases of antibiotic associated anaphylaxis reported in the country and to ensure patient safety when administering antibiotics.
The Sri Lanka College of Microbiologists has ventured on a series of media programmes in collaboration with the Independence Television Network (ITN) channel.
